Mr. Alvin James Foster, 85, of Corning, AR., passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Corning Therapy and Living Center in Corning, AR. Mr. Foster was born in Tipperary, AR., on December 13, 1930. He retired in June 1984 from General Motors Corp., Flint V-8 Engine Plant. He was a 33rd Degree mason and member of Masonic Lodge # 719 in Corning, AR. He enjoyed buying and selling houses, working on cars, dancing and gardening. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Corning, AR.

He married his wife of 29 years Barbara Francis (Parsons) Foster on June 12, 1987. She survives. Other survivors are 4 daughters Charlotte and husband Gary Meeker of Pendleton, IN., Machell and husband Bryan Mosley of Castle Rock, CO., Debbie Corbin of Poplar Bluff, MO., Denise Burks of Dexter, MO.; one son Darrell Corbin, of Louisville, KY.; two brothers Albert Foster of Corning, AR., Delmar Foster of Corning, AR.; special niece Neely Joyce Spruill; twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded by his parents Arthur Dotson and Mettie Lou (Gould) Foster; brother Delbert Foster; two sisters Beulah Finn and Esther Deatherage.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 3:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kent Modlin, Gary Meeker and Sunny Williams officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Corning Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2016 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
