Corning

Mr. Amos Wayne Baker, 91, of Corning, AR., passed away Sunday, December 29, 2019 at Corning Therapy and Living Center in Corning, AR. Mr. Baker was born in Steprock, AR., on August 4, 1928. He was the owner and pharmacist of Baker Pharmacy in Corning for 50 years. He taught pharmacology at UAMS in Little Rock for two years. He attained his Bachelor of Science in Biology and Zoology before he spent three years in Pharmacy school to attain his Master’s in Pharmacy. He was a member of American Pharmacists Association. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during World War II. He enjoyed camping, spending time with his family and walking his dog Molly.

He married his wife of 67 years Mrs. Edna (Leigh) Baker on May 8, 1952,  She survives, other survivors include his daughter Vicki Lee of McDonough, GA.; grandchildren Jason Lee, Dustin Lee, Brandon (Pamela) Lee, April (Keith) Haywood, Quincy Linthacum, Lola Linthacum; great-grandchildren Kain (Nichole) Haywood, Celeston (Taylor) Haywood, McKenzie Lee, Penelope Lopez; great-great-grandchildren Gracie Haywood, Renleigh Haywood; and beloved pet Molly.

He was preceded in death by children Wayne Baker and Valeri Baker; parents Elmer Lee and Lorene (Wright) Baker; brothers Leo Baker, Raymond Baker; sisters Ellene Gwatney and Louise Privitt.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, January 2, 2020 at 2:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Josh Raspberry officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Corning Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 2, 2020 from 12:00 PM until the time of services.

Grandsons Jason, Dustin, Brandon and Keith, along with great grandsons Kain and Celeston will proudly serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to SaintJude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1893, Memphis, TN 38101-9950 or Arkansas Baptist Children's Homes, 10 Remington Drive, Little Rock, AR 72204.
