Mr. Basil Eaton, 86, of West Memphis, AR., passed away peacefully January 12, 2012 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro surrounded by family. He was born October 11, 1925 to the late Cecil and Julia (Alphin) Eaton in Pocahontas, AR. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II having served in the European Theater. He was a life member of the V.F.W and served as Past Commander of V.F.W Post 4449 in Marianna, AR. He was a 32nd degree Mason and of the Baptist faith.
Basil had been employed by several agencies of the State of Arkansas including the Highway Department, Alcoholic Beverage Control and retired as Assistant Supervisor of Arkansas Game & Fish Commission.
He was preceded in death by Mother and Father, brothers Hovie, Cecil Jr, and W.H (Bill) Eaton. He is survived by his wife, Imogene, of 64 years of marriage, sons Glenn (Ginger) of Mesquite, TX, Allyn (Rose) of Jacksonville, AR, Chuck (Ann) of West Memphis, AR, and sister Fern Smith of Charleston, MO; Sisters in Law Anna Eaton of Batesville, AR and Mary Anne Eaton of Jonesboro, AR; Six Grandchildren, three Great-Grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 14, 2012 in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Steve Patterson officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Corning Cemetery. Public visitation will be held Saturday, January 14, 2012 from 11:30 AM until the time of service.
