Bessie Poyner

Mrs. Bessie Pauline Poyner, 90, of Corning, AR., passed away Sunday, January 3, 2016 at Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott, AR. Mrs. Poyner was born in Corning, AR., on March 4, 1925. She was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family, painting, shopping, listening to country music and going to Branson shows. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

She married her husband of 45 years Lowell N. Poyner on May 26, 1945. He preceded her in death on August 15, 1990.

She is survived by daughter Linda Poyner Johnson of Corning, AR.; two grandsons Eric Johnson and wife Tonda of Poplar Bluff, MO., Blake Johnson and wife Tricia of Corning, AR.; sister Ruth Phelan Sizemore of Knoxville, TN.; four great-grandchildren Erica Byes, Chad Johnson, Cara Johnson, Bria Adams; one great-great-grandson Kyle Byes.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents Thomas Elmer and Gladys Goldie (Eastwood) Phelan; five brothers Lon Phelan, Talmadge Phelan, Paul Phelan, Freddie Phelan, Thomas Phelan, Jr.; and sister Anna Faye Ballard.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Bruce McGrew officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Corning Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2016 from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
