Betty Sue Cate

Betty Sue Cate, 86, of Piggott, passed away September 12, 2024 at Piggott Nursing and Rehab.

Mrs. Cate was born January 15, 1938 in Pollard. She was retired from Carter Carburetor, Johansen Bros Shoe Factory, and farmwork, but her greatest joy in life was being a homemaker and taking care of her family. She was an Avon Sales Representative for several years. In addition to being with her family and friends, she also loved flower gardening and painting. Sue was a field editor for Birds and Bloom magazine. She attended Pleasant Grove at Antiville when she was able.

On October 2, 1954, she married Earl Cate. They were married 66 years prior to his death on November 13, 2020.

Survivors include her children Susan (Randy) Shelton of Corning, Lindell (Denise) Cate of DeSoto, MO and Lisa (Frankie) Haller of Knobel; grandchildren Brad, Clint, and Logan Davis, Lindsay Copeland, Brian, Justin, and Jesse Haller; 19 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and many other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Earl, she was also preceded in death by her parents Finis and Martha (Young) Welty and brother Robert Earl Welty.

Visitation will be held Sunday Sept. 15, 2024 from 2 to 3 at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning. Funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Post Oak Cemetery in McDougal.
