Mr. William “Bill” Tell Rahm, Jr., 73, of Corning, AR., passed away Friday, March 10, 2017 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould, AR. Mr. Rahm was born in Corning, AR., on April 30, 1943 to Tell and Gerlean (Moore) Rahm of Success, AR. They preceded him in death. After growing up in Success, Bill went on to attend Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, AR., and later graduated from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, AR. He lived most of his life in Arlington, TX. He worked for the Social Security Administration as a caseworker in a five state area. He particularly enjoyed the travel opportunities to all the small communities throughout Texas, Arkansas, New Mexico, Louisiana and Oklahoma.
Bill’s extracurricular activities filled his life with friends, fun and lots of excitement. He was an avid softball player and played in many foreign countries including Sweden, Russia, Scotland, France, Italy and New Zealand. He was happy to share his pictures and stories with others. When not playing softball, Bill got into the movie business. He loved playing an extra on Walker Texas Ranger and Dallas where he appeared in numerous episodes. His biggest achievement was having parts in three movies. The last one was a close up shot of him sitting just behind Dennis Hopper in the movie Carried Away.
Before his illness, Bill was not only the life of the party, but also a caring and loving individual. He took his mom on numerous trips to include a cruise to the Holy Land and a trip to Europe. What most people will remember Bill for was his remarkable memory. He could recall anyone’s birthday, any major league baseball player’s batting average, which college player signed with which pro team, and any historical event that could be checked out. His latest endeavor was writing sports articles for publication. The Jonesboro Sun and Clay County Courier both found his articles worthy of publishing. Bill’s goal was to write a novel and title it “The Failure from Success.” He felt so strongly about that title, he included it on his headstone. Bill was working on his next story which he was really excited about.
Survivors include brother Ronnie Rahm and wife Charlotte of San Antonio, TX.; nieces Alison and husband Josh Zimlich of Frisco, TX., Farrah and husband Bobby Santiago of Colorado Springs, CO.; great-nieces Bonnie Zimlich, Raleigh Santiago and great-nephew Caden Zimlich.
