Mr. Wilburn Eugene "Bill" Whitaker, 84, of Cedar Hill, MO., passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Marymount Manor in Eureka, MO. Mr. Whitaker was born in Corning, AR., on July 31, 1931. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War, Post # 5331 and a member of the Elks Lodge # 2678 both of Cedar Hill. He had a passion for classic cars and he enjoyed playing music. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by two sons Gene Whitaker, Jr., and wife Fran of Webster Groves, MO., Cecil Lynn Whitaker and wife Sherry of Cedar Hill, MO.; one sister Carolyn Mills of Jackson, TN.; five grandchildren Jamie, Heather, Jacob, Matthew, Sunni and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Zoma (Miller) Whitaker, three siblings Loudina Hong, Floyd Buffington and Richard Buffington.
A visitation will be held Friday, October 23, 2015 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Chapel Hill Mortuary, Cedar Hill, MO. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, October 24, 2015, at 2:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel in Corning, AR., with pastor Herbert Ellis officiating. Burial in will follow the services at Black Cemetery near Palatka, AR. Visiatation in Corning will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Cedar Hill V.F.W. Post # 5331.
