Mr. Billie Gene York, 80, of Corning, AR., passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, AR. Mr. York was born in Success, AR., on November 19, 1933. He was a retired truck driver and owner of a gravel pit. He was a fifty-year member of the Corning Masonic Lodge #719. He enjoyed restoring Chevrolet El Caminos, old gas pumps and spending time at the coffee shop.
He married his wife of forty-seven years Nellie York on October 7, 1960. She preceded him in death on November 2, 2007.
He is survived by twin daughters Jami and her husband Bobby McGee of Cabot, AR., Julie and her husband Robert Smothers of North Little Rock, AR.; five grand children Cameron McGee, Emily McGee, Rachel McGee, Lee Smothers, Brooke Smothers; brother-in-law Jimmie Williams and Alice of Corning, AR.; sister-in-law Aylene Williams of Corning, AR.; several nephews and nieces.
He was preced in death by his wife; his parents Horace P. and Cordelia "Dealie" (Berry) York; two brothers Jewel York, Charles York; sister Alneta Stubblefield; brother-in-law J.L. Williams, sister-in-law Adena York; niece Norma Keown; two great-nephews Ryan Simpson and Rider Simpson.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, December 27, 2013 at 10:00 AM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Web Bates. Burial will follow the services in Richwoods Cemetery in Corning. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 26, 2013 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Pallbearers will be Mark Williams, Scott George, Tim Williams, Steve Williams, Don Bowers and Trey Bowers.
