Bobbye L. Harmon

Mrs. Bobbye L. Harmon, 91, of Corning, AR., passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Hospice of the Ozarks in Mountain Home, AR. Mrs. Harmon was born in Bernie, MO., on November 18, 1921. She was the Assistant Post Master at the Corning Post Office from 1944, until retirement on March 11, 1984. She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Corning, she served on numerous committees and helped with many special projects including the Methodist Prayer Shawl Ministry. She enjoyed camping and fishing with her husband Kenneth, recalling especially a six week motor home trip to Alaska after her retirement. After Kenneth's death, she, her sister and niece traveled the United States and took several cruises. Some of her favorite times were spent with her family at their family home on the White River. She loved working in the yard and always had beautiful jonquils and tulips at her home on First Street in Corning.

In May 1941, she was united in marriage to Kenneth L. Harmon who was employed for 40 years at Clay County Electric Cooperative in Corning. He preceded her in death on August 11, 1996.

She is survived by one son Todd W. Harmon and wife Beth Allen of Cotter, AR.; one sister Dorris I. Smith Carter of Hardy, AR.; daughter-in-law Jenny Mack Harmon of Hindsville, AR.; four grandchildren Lee Harmon of Los Angeles, CA., John Harmon of Los Angeles, CA., Leslie (Harmon) and husband Aaron Smith of Little Rock, AR., Emily (Harmon) and husband Chris Lawrenz of Little Rock, AR.; three great-grandchildren Kate (Harmon) Hanney of Los Angeles, CA., Breckin (Harmon) Lawrenz of Little Rock, AR., Christian M. Lawrenz of Little Rock, AR.; two nephews Johnny Carter of Cherokee Village, AR., Allen Carter of Benton, AR. and one niece Eliane (Carter) Bostian of Bixby, OK.

She was preceded in death by her husband; sons Dr. Harry McKinley Harmon, Gerald Harmon and parents William McKinley and Anna F. (Alstadt) Smith.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, January 13, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. in the First United Methodist Church in Corning with Reverend Ann Ferris officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Corning Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 13, 2013 in the church from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service.
