Brenda Griffin, 68, a cherished wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on November 8, 2025 in Paragould, Arkansas, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 5, 1957, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, Brenda led a life that exemplified compassion, kindness, and a deep spirituality.
Brenda was a dedicated program coordinator for medical students at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, where she took great pride in contributing to the education and growth of future medical professionals. Her commitment to excellence was evident in her own educational journey; she graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1975 and earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Geology from Portland State University, followed by a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Houston-Clear Lake.
Brenda loved with her whole heart, giving generously of her time, her care, and her affection. To know her was to feel loved. Brenda loved music, singing, poetry, gardening, cooking and she was always helping at church. She adored her daughters and grandchildren and found joy in watching them grow and thrive. Her and Gary enjoyed a wonderful 51 years of marriage. They loved to travel and spend time with family. She was the love of his life.
She is survived by her beloved husband Gary Griffin, daughters Holly Dyer and fiancé Shaun Blair, and Tosha (Sean) Travis, both of League City, Texas, and her treasured grandchildren Ethan and Hannah Dyer, and Luke and Logan Travis. Brenda also leaves behind her sisters Novalee Burrell of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Dorothy (Walter) Woods of Springfield, Missouri, Loretta Witt of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, Wilma Pollard of Maumelle, Arkansas, and brother-in-law Bobby Boyd along with numerous nephews, nieces, and other family members and friends.
Brenda was predeceased by her parents Elbert and Mable (Harris) Hendrix Sr.; sisters Maydean Boyd and Janette Hendrix; brother Elbert Hendrix Jr.; and brothers-in-law Glen Witt, Frank Burrell and John Pollard.
Her legacy of love, kindness, and compassion will continue through the lives she touched and the memories shared among family and friends.
Visitation will be held on November 11, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Ermert Funeral Home Inc, located at 1000 W Elm St, Corning, Arkansas. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. Albert Camp officiating, with burial at 3:15 PM at Post Oak Cemetery in McDougal, Arkansas.
Brenda will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
