Burl Allen

Mr. Burl Allen, 95, of Corning, AR., passed away Sunday, April 4, 2021 at Corning Therapy and Living Center. Mr. Allen was born January 20, 1926 in Corning, AR. He was retired from Black’s Lumber Mill where he worked for 34 years. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during World War II. He was a member of Rapert-Poyner VFW Post 8347. Burl loved his family and enjoyed camping, fishing and volunteering in the community. He was a member of Success Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.

On July 31, 1948, he married Elenore Ernestine Samons. They had celebrated 64 years of marriage prior to her death on April 5, 2013.

Survivors include his son Billy Allen and wife Janet of Corning, AR., daughter Peggy of Corning, AR.; grandchildren Marc Cummings and wife Ashley, Matt Allen and wife Chelsea, Amy and husband Jeremy Earley; great-grandchildren Lillie Allen, Grady Allen, Abigail Earley, Cannon Cummings and Olivia Cummings.

In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by his parents Mark and Daisy (Langdon) Allen; brothers Carrel, Amon, Earl and Edger Allen; and sisters Christeen Anderson, Verbie Whelchel, and Grace Hayes.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 1:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel Reverend Steve Patterson officiating. Burial will follow the services at Richwoods Cemetery in Corning, AR. Visitation will be held Tuesday April 6, 2021 from 11:00 AM until the time of services.
