Burnis Turner

Mr. Burnis Myers Turner, Sr., 78, of Peach Orchard, AR., passed away Sunday, April 25, 2021 at Saint Bernard’s Medical Center in Jonesboro, AR. Mr. Turner was born in Peach Orchard, AR., on August 31, 1942. He served on the Rockford, IL., Fire Department for 25 years. He was a Lieutenant when he retired. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

On May 12, 1961, he married Mildred Louise (Cray) Turner. They were married 59 years prior to her death on January 5, 2021.

Survivors include his children Burnis Turner, Jr., and wife Penny of LaValle, WI., Vardman Turner, II and wife Shelly of Rockton, IL., Verda Ellen and husband Richard Barclay of South Beloit, IL., and Carrie Ann (John Gilbee) Turner of Paragould, AR.; brother Truman Turner of Rockford, IL.; sisters Linda DeFendi of Machesney Park, IL., Judy Anderson of Machesney Park, IL.; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by his parents Vardman and Verda (Myers) Turner; brothers Samuel Turner and L V Turner.

Graveside funeral service will be conducted Thursday, April 29, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Pirtle Cemetery in Peach Orchard, AR., with Reverend Truman Turner officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 29, 2021 from 11:30 AM until 12:30 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel.
