Mrs. Carmen Gladys Shasteen, 100, of Gatewood, MO., formerly of McDougal, AR., passed away Monday, January 7, 2013 at Current River Nursing Center in Doniphan, MO. Mrs. Shasteen was born in Pollard, AR., on August 19, 1912. She was a retired school cook. She enjoyed cooking and quilting. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Pollard, AR.
She married her husband Virgil Leslie Shasteen on November 19, 1933 in Saint Francis, AR. He preceded her in death on September 2, 1983.
She is survived by one daughter Lynda and husband Joe Bass of Gatewood, MO.; three grandchildren Lindy Bass, Michael McKinney, Brandi Bass; seven great-grandchildren Joey, Elysha, Brandon, Hannah, Rachael, Blayne and Payton.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents Rufus Albert and Victoria Mae (Baker) Davis; two brothers and eight sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, January 11, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Loy Culver officiating. Burial will follow the services in New Hope Cemetery in Pollard, AR. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 10, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
