Charles Colbert

Reverend Charles Ray Colbert, Sr., 80, of Corning, AR., passed away Friday, April 27, 2018 at Saint Bernard’s Medical Center in Jonesboro, AR., surrounded by family.

CPO Reverend Colbert was born in Lake City, AR., on January 26, 1938. He proudly served his country as a member of both the United States Army and United States Navy. He loved to preach the gospel and was formerly a minister at Calvary Baptist Church, Corning, AR., Reyno First Baptist Church, Reyno, AR., Bayless Highway Baptist Church, Starke, FL., and Fisher First Baptist Church. He most recently ministered at Knobel First Baptist Church, Knobel, AR. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and bowling.

He married his wife of 60 years Mrs. Barbara Ann (Rice) Colbert on May 18, 1957. She survives, other survivors include children Charles Ray Colbert and wife Linda Colbert of Poplar Bluff, MO., Tom Colbert of Corning, AR., Joann and husband Kevin Bell of Pocahontas, AR.; sisters Loretta Swain of Jonesboro, AR., Barbara Sue Colbert of Texas; grandchildren Thomas Colbert, Philip Colbert, Kaleb Colbert, Savannah Colbert, Christina Kurtz, Barbara Rasado; great-grandchildren Christian Kurtz, Gabriel Kurtz, Lily Rasado, Abigail Rasado, Jose Rasado; sister-in-law Shirley Wood; nephews Jerry Lynn Swain, Matthew Bell; niece Kala Wells; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Leon and Beatrice (Morrison) Colbert; grandson Charles Ray Colbert, III., and sister Lavera Colbert.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, April 29, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Roger Hovis officiating. Burial will follow the service Corning Cemetery with Military Honor's. Visitation will be held Sunday, April 29, 2018 from 12:00 PM until the start of services.
