Mr. Charles Fairchild, 65, of Corning, AR., passed away Thursday, October 21, 2010 at home. Mr. Fairchild was born at Knobel, AR. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, he was a past Post Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Rapert-Poyner Post #8347, he was a member of the American Legion, the Disabled American Veterans, the Masonic Lodge, and the National Rifle Association. He was a Constable, and he enjoyed reading, Bible study, hunting, gun collecting, and being with his family. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
He married his wife Shirley Ann (Sloan) Fairchild on August 1, 1966 in Saint Louis, MO. She survives. Other survivors include one daughter Marsha Ann Thompson of Frisco City, AL.; one son Steven Fairchild of Paragould, AR.; two sisters Bernice Arnold of Corning, AR., Barbara Fairchild of Branson, MO.; five grandchildren Nicholas Pierce, Marcus Thompson, Hannah, Zachary, and Kodi Fairchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ulys and Opal (Archer) Fairchild.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, October 25, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Johnny Bradshaw officiating. Burial will follow in Hosea Cemetery at Knobel, AR. Public visitation will be Sunday, October 24, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
