Mr. Charles Highley, 76, of Corning, AR., passed away Monday, February 20, 2012 at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Mr. Highley was born in Rector, AR., on March 13, 1935. He was retired from the United States Army, he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was also a retired police officer. He last worked for Clayton Court House Security. He was a member of the Veteren's of Foriegn War and the First Christian Church in Corning.
He is survived by five children Clinton Highley, Jr. of McNeal, AZ., Valerie Pratt of Robertsville, MO., Donnie Highley of Frisco, TX., Vicky Franklin of McGregor, TX., Bobby Highley of Arnold, MO; one brother Junior Highley of Delaware; one sister Mary Barker of Corning, AR.; eighteen grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents Ira and Bessie (Vincent) Highley; one sister Virginia Highley; and one grandchild Justice Brakefield.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 3:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Tim Burgess officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Williams Cemetery near Corning. Public visitation will be held Wednesday, February 22, 2012 from 1:00 PM until the time of service.
