Charles Edward Smith, 75, of Corning, AR., passed away April 20, 2021 at Southeast Health in Cape Girardeau, MO. Mr. Smith was born March 31, 1946 in Pollard, AR. He was a retired minister who loved to pray and spread God’s word. He proudly served in the United States National Guard. He was an avid fisherman and hunter who loved spending time with his family. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Corning.

On December 18, 1965, he married Linda S. (Burkheart) Smith in McDougal, AR. They recently celebrated 55 years of marriage. Other survivors include her sons Charles (Ladona) Smith of Conway, AR., Jeff (Leslie) Smith of Murfreesboro, TN., Justin (Bettina) Smith of Lexington, TN.; brothers Glen (Gloria) Smith, Jimmy (Lynda) Smith, both of Saint Francis, AR.; sisters Paula (Dewey) Holcomb of Piggott, AR., Shirleen (Jimmy) Howell of Corning, AR.; grandchildren Bryce James, Bryant Alexander and Caleb Harold Smith, Mackenzie Reagan Baker, Steven Vander and Cody Tyler Johnson; and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by parents James Smith and Christine (Karnes) Smith; and sister Dorothy Householder.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to your local church.

Graveside funeral service will be conducted Friday, April 23, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Post Oak Cemetery in McDougal, AR., with Bro. Josh Carver officiating.
