Mr. Charles W. “Buster” Wiedeman, 90, of Hot Springs, AR., formerly of Corning, AR., passed away Saturday, November 9, 2019. Buster was born in Corning, AR., on August 28, 1929 to Albert G. and Easter (Herron) Wiedeman. He joined the United States Air Force in the field of communications during World War II. After his honorable discharge, he worked as an air traffic controller for 28 years before his retirement. He returned to Corning in 1973 to raise his son and became a private pilot for Corning Implement followed by Harts Manufacturing working all over the United States. He was very active in his community and was instrumental in the building and expanding of Corning Airport. He served on the board of directors for Corning Airport for many years.
He married the love of his life and wife of 69 years Catherine “Kay” (Pangakas) Wiedeman on January 7, 1950. She survives, other survivors include his son Brian and wife Sarah (Pyle) Wiedeman and grandchildren Austin James Wiedeman, Jamison McDougald and Sarah Lene Wiedeman.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his siblings James “Buddy” Wiedeman, Gladys Goodman, and Dona Blaylock.
A short memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 1:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow the service at 2:00 PM at Richwoods Cemetery with Military Honors.
