Dale E. Meeks, 84, of Littleton, CO., passed away on Friday, November 8, 2013 in Loveland, CO. Dale was born on March 6, 1929 in Corning, AR., to Edd and Rebecca (Burns) Meeks. He grew up in Arkansas and lived most of his adult life in Michigan, where he married Janice Demlow and raised his four children. He moved back to his hometown of Corning for about 10 years to live with and care for his elderly father, then back again to Michigan and also a year in Missouri until he eventually moved to Colorado three years ago to be closer to some of his children.
Dale served in both the Navy and the Marines in his late teens through his mid-20's, after which he became an Operating Engineer . He was a proud member of the Michigan Operating Engineers Union Local 324 for 57 years. Dale enjoyed hunting and fishing during his younger years, and was especially fond of telling stories about growing up in Corning. He had a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor that will be greatly missed by his family.
Dale is survived by his sons, Kyle Meeks and his wife Monique of Loveland, CO., Kelly Meeks of Hot Springs, SD., and Daryl Meeks and his wife Kelly of Taylorsville, KY.; his daughter Dalene Pauls and her husband Ron of Littleton, CO.; his sisters, Wanda Ellefsen of Hollywood, FL., and Leola Higgenbotham of St. Louis, MO.; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, November 16, 2013 in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Johnny Bradshaw officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Corning Cemetery with Military honors. Visitation will be held Saturday, November 16 from 12:00 PM until the time of service.
