Obituary

Don Miller, 80, of Corning, passed away peacefully at his home on September 9, 2026.

Don was born May 6, 1946, in Corning to Paul and Irene (Guthrie) Miller. He was a retired independent milk distributor who worked locally for many years. Don was a hardworking man who took pride in staying busy and building things with his own hands. He enjoyed camping, horse riding trails, going out to eat, meeting his buddies at McDonald’s for coffee and simply finding ways to enjoy life.

Of all the things Don loved, his family held the most special place in his heart. He cherished every opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, making memories that they will carry with them for years to come. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Don proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He continued his service to fellow veterans as a member of VFW Rapert Poynor Post and the D.A.V. He was also a faithful member of First General Baptist Church in Corning.

On October 7, 1972, Don married the love of his life, Pat Dean. This October, they would have celebrated 54 years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, and countless memories.

Don is survived by his loving wife, Pat; daughters, Terrie (David) Montgomery of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and Deanna (Heath) Reeves of Piggott; sisters, Dorlene Conner of Corning and Diane (Pete) Rice of Rockford, Illinois; grandchildren, Justin Montgomery, Stephanie (Ryan) Pennington, Elizabeth (Nathan) Montgomery, and Destiny Robinson; great-grandchildren, Miller, Jude, Ellie, and Norah Pennington; along with many other relatives and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Irene (Guthrie) Miller; brothers, Roy, Robert, O'Neal, and Gailen Miller; and sisters, Betty McGrew and Wilma Drewer.

Pallbearers will be Zared Yancy, Mike Day, Kenny Francis, Jamie Francis, Vernon Barton, and Jim LaRue.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 11, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning. Funeral service will be held Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Gary Long and Rev. Carmon McMasters officiating. Burial will follow at Corning Cemetery.

Don will be remembered for his love of family, his willingness to work, his service to his country and fellow veterans, and the simple joys he shared with those around him. His greatest legacy will be the love he gave his family and the memories he leaves behind.
