Mr. Donald Louis Hopkins, 72, of McDougal, AR., passed away Friday, July 20, 2012 at Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott, AR. Mr. Hopkins was born in Ann Arbor, MI., on April 27, 1940. He was a construction project superintendent for Edward J. Garritts, Inc. He enjoyed going horseback riding and playing with his grandchildren. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Pollard, AR.
He married his with Darlene (Smith) Hopkins on December 16, 1961, she survives. Other survivors include one son Donald Hopkins, Jr. and wife Becky of Batesville, AR.; one daughter Debra and husband J. Finley of McDougal, AR.; five brothers Dennis Hopkins and wife Thelma of Applegate, CA., Kenneth Hopkins and wife Sarah of Rockford, IL., Rex Hopkins and wife Debbie of Poplar Bluff, MO., James Hopkins of Huntsville, AL., Stephen Hopkins and wife Vickey of North Fort Myers, FL.; one sister Sharon and husband Johnny Gill of Rockford, IL.; two grandchildren Byshay Finley of Conway, AR., and Madison Hopkins of Batesville, AR.
He was preceded on death by parents Louis and Gussie (Dale) Hopkins; four sisters Ella Morgan, Uneta Hopkins, Sybil Hopkins, Dena McCall; one brother Danny Hopkins.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jeff Hart officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Post Oak Cemetery near McDougal, AR., with military honors. Vistation will be held Monday, July 23, 2012 from 6:00 until 9:00 PM.
