Edith Smith

Mrs. Edith M. Smith, 95, of Peach Orchard, AR., passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at Corning Therapy and Living Center in Corning, AR. Mrs. Smith was born in Walnut Ridge, AR., on January 9, 1925. She was a lifelong farmer’s wife and homemaker who enjoyed traveling, sightseeing and spending time with family and friends. She was a long-time member of the Pirtle Free Will Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was an excellent soprano and enjoying singing in a quartet.

She married her husband of 71 years Mr. Joseph Oran Smith on June 14, 1941, He preceded her in death on August 30, 2012.

She is survived by her children Richard Smith and wife Judy of Peach Orchard, AR., Barbara and husband Eldon Schmidt of O’Fallon, IL.; daughter-in-law Carol Smith of Knobel, AR.; grandchildren Mark (Carla) Smith, Todd (Tammy) Smith, Teri (Brad) Range, David (Kady) Schmidt, Sara Smith and Rachel (Josh) Bang; great-grandchildren Justin (Lavella) Smith, Megan (Josh) Murray, Tiffany (Aaron) Kirby, Kayla Bang, Lori Bang, Hali Forbes, Kayla Forbes, Kara Schmidt, Kendra Schmidt and Aiden Smith; great-great-grandchildren Karleigh, Leigha and Benson Smith, Luke and Hadley Murray, Owen and Levi Kirby; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents J.B. and Elizabeth (Bennett) Smith; her son Harold Lee Smith; brother Curtis C. Smith; and her step-mother Nina (Toler) Smith.
