Edna “Glendora” Casteel, age 99, passed peacefully June 22, 2026. She was born February 22, 1927, Beech Grove, Arkansas to the late Cager and Edna Allgood.
She married Ervil Casteel in 1943 with whom she shared a life devoted to family, faith, and service. Glendora was preceded in death by her husband, Ervil Casteel; daughter, Joyce Casteel; grandson, Matt Brittingham; sisters, Jewel White and Juanita Hollis; niece, Shirley McIlvoy; and nephew, Buddy Hollis.
She is survived by her daughters, Bronda (Dean, deceased) Hagood; Peggy (Rick) Brittingham; son, Tony (Melissa) Casteel; six grandchildren, Kellie (Doug) Buchanan, Mikki (Dave) Jacobs, Chet (Amanda) Brittingham, Sarah (Chris) Young, Anthony Casteel; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. Special nieces and nephews, Liddie Moore, Jerry Casteel, Mary Breckenridge, Debbie Sims, Connie Baxley and Rick Hollis.
A long-time member of Seventh and Mueller Church of Christ in Paragould, Arkansas, and Sycamore Church of Christ in Cookeville, Tennessee, Glendora is lovingly remembered for her devotion to faith and family, her love of gardening and cooking, especially her dressing, dumplings, and pies.
Services under the direction of Ermert Funeral Home will be held on Friday June 26, 2026, with visitation beginning at 10:00 am at 7th and Mueller Church of Christ in Paragould, Arkansas. The funeral services will follow at12:00 pm with Larry McFadden officiating, Burial will follow the services in Greene County Memorial Gardens.
A memorial service will be held in Cookeville, Tennessee at Sycamore Church of Christ, July 11, 2026 at 1:00 pm.
Mrs. Casteel's family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the caregivers and staff at NHC Healthcare in Cookeville, Tennessee, for their kindness, care, and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Children’s Home, Inc., 5515 Walcott Road, Paragould, Arkansas 72450, or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
