MABRY, EFFIE ARVINA LINCOLN – age 92 passed on to her heavenly home Sunday January 23, 2011. Effie was born October 20, 1918 to David and Ida Lincoln in Clay County, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Prentiss Mabry, brothers Freddy Lincoln (Rockford, IL), Sonny Lincoln (Rockford, IL) sisters Ruby Lincoln (Clay Co., AR), Notra Lincoln Wright (Corning, AR), Modeine Lincoln Purvis (St. Louis, MO), and Davine Lincoln Tharp (Datto, AR).
Survivors include children, Evelyn Joann Pennington of Rochester Hills, MI and Port St. Lucie, FL. Linnia Sue Burley and husband Andrew (Russ) of Clinton Township, MI, Robert Leslie and wife Cheryl of Clinton Township, MI and Port St. Lucie, FL, David Ronald and wife Roberta of St. John, IN. John Thomas and wife Irene of Sterling Heights MI, Peggy Jean Layton and husband Mark of Golden CO, Phyllis Irene Raver and husband Robert of Salem SC, and Shirley Louise Wells and husband Doyle of Knoxville TN. She has thirteen grandchildren throughout the states of Michigan, Georgia, Colorado, and Tennessee, and 18 great-grandchildren with 3 more due in the spring.
Even though Ms. Effie moved to Tennessee, her heart remained in Arkansas with dear friends, Ruth Cavitt, Marie Arnold Reed, and Barbara Colbert, as well as her Sunday School Class, Home Demonstration Club Members, and fellow worshipers at Grace Baptist Church.
After her husband's passing in 2000, Effie was able to continue gardening and quilting at their home in Corning Arkansas. After moving in with family in Tennessee in 2006 Ms. Effie was still able to garden some and enjoyed the companionship given by her caregivers, and special friends Flora Hopson, Joyce Turner, and her Black Oak Heights Sunday School Class.
Family will receive friends 5:30-6:30 pm Wednesday at Black Oak Heights Baptist Church with the service to follow at 6:30 pm. Brother Steve Ross officiating. Family will also receive friends 1:00-2:00 pm Friday at Ermert Funeral Home with service to follow at 2:00 pm. Brother Doug Burch officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Corning Cemetery.
Although Mom loved flowers while here on this earth, she can no longer enjoy them, so please feel free to donate in lieu of flowers to Grace Baptist Church, 803 Southwest 5th Street, Corning, AR 72422.
