Obituary

Ella Mae Hathaway, 74, of Corning, passed away peacefully at her home on February 8, 2026. Born on April 16, 1951, Ella Mae was a devoted homemaker whose greatest joy came from caring for her family. She found pleasure in various activities, including crafting, gardening, and spending time watching her fish. A passionate outdoors enthusiast, she enjoyed both hunting and fishing and had a fondness for collecting shoes. Ella Mae was a faithful member of the First Apostolic Church in Corning.

On July 31, 1966, she married the love of her life, Lanie Hathaway, and together they recently celebrated 59 years of a wonderful marriage.

Ella Mae is survived by her loving husband, Lanie Hathaway of Corning; her children, Linda Bray of Corning, Kathy Smith of Neelyville, Missouri, and Mary Hathaway of Corning; her brothers, David Leonard and John Leonard, both of Corning; as well as 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, with another on the way. She also leaves behind her beloved pets, Sam and Lily, along with many other cherished relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Ann Hathaway, and her parents, Wayne and Lori (Creameans) Leonard.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the First Apostolic Church in Corning, with funeral services to follow at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Troy Johnson. Burial will take place at Corning Cemetery.

Ella Mae will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
