Emma Catherine McNabb, 89, of Brookings passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones at home on Friday, September 19, 2025.

She was born November 10, 1935, in Peach Orchard, AR., to the late Benjamin and Sara (Tucker) Palmer.

As a youngster she attended school in Brownie Township. She was a God-fearing woman who attended church at the Pirtle Baptist Church where she was the pianist. In her later years, she read scripture and watched pastor Murray sermons daily.

She had a strong love for her family and raised them on the family farm she held dear.

She is preceded in death by her husband of seventy years James Gardener McNabb her parents, siblings Monietta (Junior) Cox, Cecil (Jenny) Roberts, Eva (J.P.) Lemmons. She is survived by brother Darrell (Linda) Palmer of Bowling Greene, Kentucky, her daughter Teresa (Gary) French of Brookings; grandsons Christopher (Jessica) McNabb of Brookings and Tommy (Bree) French of Pocahontas; great grandchildren Asa McNabb, Emma McNabb, Lexi Bell, August French, Stetson French, Coralie French, and her loving cat Pumpkin, as well as many friends.

A memorial to celebrate Catherine’s life will be held for the immediate family at a later date. Those who would like to memorialize Catherine are asked by the family to make donations to Brownie-Pirtle Cemetery Association, C/O Judy Schimming, P.O. Box 40, Peach Orchard, AR 72453.
