Mr. Ernest Alvis Rice, 79, of Sikeston, MO., passed away Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, MO. Mr. Rice was born in Corning, AR., on October 9, 1934. He was a supervisor for Burkhart Manufactoring, where he worked for 39 years. He enjoyed fishing and watching baseball. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army.
He married his wife of 48 years Tish (Davis) Rice on December 23, 1961. She preceded him in death on December 12, 2010.
He is survived by two daughters Pam Rice-Crawford of Sikeston, MO., Melissa Rice of New Madrid, MO.; two brothers Gene Rice of Paragould, AR., Harold Rice of Rector, MO.; three sisters Wilma Kavy of Knobel, AR., Christine Hart of Kansas City, KS., Louise Miller of Paragould, AR.; one grandson Nicolas Rice of Sikeston, MO.; three great-grandchildren Alexander, Eric and Nathan.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents Eldon and Lidy (Bailey) Rice and one sister Martha Arnold.
Graveside funeral service will be conducted Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Herbert Ellis officiating at Richwoods Cemetery in Corning. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 21, 2014 from 10:00 AM until the time of service in Ermert Funeral Home.
