Obituary

Mrs. Estel Louise (Huddleston) Guthrey passed from this life on September 17, 2026, at the age of 90 years. She was born on February 15, 1936. Her parents were William Jacob Huddleston and Mary Johnson (Austin) Cavenar. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Dorthea Hicks.

Estel enjoyed working with her hands, whether it was sewing, quilting, cooking, or working in the garden. Word puzzles and jigsaw puzzles were among her favorite pastimes. She also took great pleasure in feeding and watching all the hummingbirds who took advantage of her generosity. Above all, her greatest joy was her family, who she loved dearly. She was a member of Reyno First Baptist Church.

On April 2, 1953, she was united in marriage to Clarence “Sonny” Guthrey. He precedes her. She is survived by her sons, Dick (Janna) Guthrey of Pocahontas, AR, and Carl (Kathy) Guthrey of Little Rock, AR; grandsons, Michael (Hannah) Guthrey of Brookland, AR, and Dr. Caleb (Jordan) Guthrey of Little Rock, AR; granddaughter, Michelle Guthrey Tracy; and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two special nieces, Theresa Hurst and Cheryl Parker.

The family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to the nurses and staff of Woodland Heights Senior Living in Little Rock and all the hospice nurses who provided care, comfort, and dignity.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a memorial to Reyno First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 164, Reyno, AR 72462.

Visitation will be held September 20, 2026, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning. Funeral services will follow, at 3 p.m. with Bro. Roger Hovis officiating. Interment will follow in the Corning Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are her grandsons Michael and Caleb Guthrey, Scott Guthrey, Jerry Yancy, Ron Paterson, and Jim Hager. Honorary pallbearers are Burton Eddington, J. D. Yancy, and David Wilson.
