Mr. Eugene Franklin Hopkins, 84, of Corning, AR., passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2020 surrounded by family at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould, AR. Mr. Hopkins was born on August 17, 1935 in McDougal, AR. He was a retired self-employed contractor. He enjoyed working and did so for many years. He also enjoyed talking, telling stories, collecting and tinkering with anything and everything old, especially his antique cars. He was a member of Corning Lion’s Club and Bootheel Antique Car Klub. He was a member of Apostolic Fellowship Church in McDougal, AR.
Survivors include his wife Sharon Cooper-Hopkins of the home; children Danny Hopkins and Suzy of Paragould, AR., Wayne Hopkins of McDougal, AR., Garry Hopkins of McDougal, AR., Teddy Cooper of Poplar Bluff, MO, Shelly and husband James Sisson of Poplar Bluff, MO., Gena Kay and husband Jeromy Sweaney of Corning, AR.; brother Leroy Hopkins and wife wife Mary of Maynard, AR.; sisters Arvilla and husband Bob McKinney of Poplar Bluff, MO., Barbara Hopkins of Jonesboro, AR.; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Dewey Franklin Hopkins and Ruby Jewell (Sprouse) Hopkins-Krantz; mother of Danny, Wayne and Garry, Verna Mae Hopkins; brothers Leo, Denver and Bobby Hopkins; and sister Dorothy Morgan.
Funeral service will be conducted Friday, July 10, 2020 at 2:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Herbert Ellis officiating. Burial will be at Corning Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, July 10, 2020 from 12:00 PM until the time of service.
