Eula Watson

Eula Watson of Corning, passed away November 24, 2016 at the age of 96 years, 6 months, and 11 days at Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.

She lived in the Corning area all of her life and graduated Corning High School in the class of 1938. She attended Arkansas State University in Jonesboro and received the degree of Bachelor of Science in Education and Master of Science in Education.

She taught school in the Corning School District for 42 years. Teaching was what she always wanted to do and she always enjoyed every year she taught, loving each of her students.

After retiring, she enjoyed gardening, playing cards with friends, watching both the Cardinals play ball and Razorback football games.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, a member of Arkansas State Retired Teachers Association, and the Clay County Retired Teachers Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents Tom and Ola Huggins, her husband Jess Watson, sister Winifred Mabry, and brother James Huggins.

She is survived by her niece Linda Mabry Johnson, great nephews Mark (Gina) Stafford of Van Buren, AR and Chris (Kerie) Stafford of Cabot, great great nephews and nieces Drake and Tori Stafford, both of Van Buren, Ryan Stafford and Skylar Peterson, both of Cabot, sister-in-law Joyce Huggins of Corning, nephew Michael Huggins of Piggott, and a host of friends she loved deeply.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning from 1 PM to 2 PM. Funeral service will follow at 2 PM with Bro. David Richey and Rev. Josh Raspberry officiating. Burial will be in Richwoods Cemetery in Corning.
