Pastor Ezra Nelson Ellis, 86, of Corning, AR., passed away Monday, March 26, 2013 at John J. Pershing V. A. Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, MO. Mr. Ellis was born in Pollard, AR., on October 30, 1926. He was a retired Millwright from Kaiser Steel Corporation in Fontana, CA. He was an Ordained Minister with the Associated Brotherhood of Christians for 53 years, he pastored churches in California and Missouri for more than 40 years. His lifelong persuit was to study and memorize the Scripture, he was refered to by many as a walking Bible. He proudly served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Navy mostly in the Pacific Realm. He was a member and Past Commander of Rapert-Poyner Veterans of Foreign War Post # 8347 in Corning, he also served as the North East Arkansas VFW District Chaplain. He was a member of the Apostolic Fellowship Church in McDougal, AR., where he assisted his son in the ministry the last several years.
He married the love of his life, Bettie Ethel (Faucett) Ellis on November 26, 1945 in Piggott, AR. She survives, other survivors include one daughter Betty Ann and husband Mike Russell of Las Vegas, NV.; seven sons Steven N. Ellis of Visalia, CA., Loyd S. Ellis and wife Sherry of Glendale, AZ., Richard E. Ellis and wife Barbara of Conroe, TX., John S. Ellis and wife Nancy of Las Vegas, NV., David L. Ellis of Las Vegas, NV., Herbert S. Ellis and wife Elaine of Corning, AR., Thomas L. Ellis of Corning, AR. two brothers Charles L. Ellis and wife Winona of Maynard, AR., Arthur D. Ellis and wife Louretta of Success, AR.; seventeen grandchildren; thirty one great-grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles Franklin and Etta (Hayes) Ellis; an infant child; three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 3:00 PM in the Apostolic Fellowship Church in McDougal, AR., with Reverends Paul Quinn, Rick Humphreys and Herbert Ellis officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow the service in Gravel Hill Cemetery in Saint Francis, AR. Visitation will be held Friday, March 29, 2013 from 6:00 until 9:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel.
