Mr. Fred A.L. Herring, 93, of Corning, AR., passed away Sunday, September 17, 2017 at his son’s home in Corning. Mr. Herring was born in Peach Orchard, AR., on January 6, 1924. He was a farmer. He proudly served his country as an Aerial Engineer Gunner in the United States Army Air Force during World War II. He enjoyed working, gardening, reading, and singing gospel. He was a Deacon at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Corning.
He married his 1st wife Irene Helen (Perdue) Herring on May 8, 1948, she preceded him in death on September 27, 1989. He married his 2nd wife Louise (Guthrey) Herring on April 10, 1996. She survives, other survivors include his six children David Herring and wife Tammie of Corning, AR., Anthony Herring and wife Christina of Walnut Ridge, AR., Dian Wisdom of New Jersey, Sheila and husband Jim Sartorius of Cedar Falls, IA., Beverly and husband Rick Milburn of Cherokee Village, AR., Beth and husband Keithel Berry of Jonesboro, AR.; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his first wife he was preceded in death by his parents Arlie Lee and Elizabeth Ann (Coffer) Herring; six brothers Ralph herring, Ray Herring, Gerald Herring, Joe Herring, Con Herring, Wes Herring; four sisters Floy Gates, Claudean Bolen, Jane Forbes, and Marie.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Mike Book and Reverend Robert Moore officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Corning Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 19, 2017 from 12:00 PM until time of service.
Serving proudly as pallbearers will be grandsons and friend.
In Lieu of Flowers Memorials should be made to the Corning Public Library or Corning Lions Club.
