Freddie Arnold

June 12, 1930 — June 11, 2017

Mr. Freddie Joe Arnold, 86, of Corning, AR., passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017 at home surrounded by his family. Mr. Arnold was born in Corning, AR., on June 12, 1930 and died the day before his 87th birthday.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mrs. Erma Dean (Leonard) Arnold; one daughter Teresa and husband Bill Bodie of Little Rock, AR.; two grandchildren Lane Bodie and wife Abbie of Corning, AR., Mackenzie and husband Tyler Cook of Travis AFB, CA.; and one niece Vickie and husband Al Johnson of Barrington, IL.

Mr. Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Ray and Georgia Louise (Polk) Arnold; his brother Jimmy Arnold; and his nephew Steve Arnold.

He was involved in many business ventures in Corning. Among them was horticulture, real estate, and Arnold Brothers Building Supply Company, and there was nothing that he couldn’t figure out how to fix. He was well known throughout the community for helping other people. Santa never had a better helper than Freddie Arnold who devoted an incredible amount of time and energy year-round to make sure that every kid in Corning had a good Christmas. He also wanted to share his beautiful gladiolas with as many people as possible.

There was nothing that he liked better than to spend time with his grandchildren, especially when he was teaching them to hunt. Deer Slayer was a well-earned nickname.

Memorial services will be conducted Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Earl Ladyman officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 13, 2017 from 1:00 PM until the time of service.
