Garland "Jake" Duff

Mr. Garland Benjamin “Jake” Duff, 97, of Doniphan, MO., passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018, at Cedargate Nursing Home in Poplar Bluff, MO. He was born in Marnard, AR., on September 5, 1920 the son son of Andrew and Alma (Crowell) Duff.

On September 5, 1938 he married the love of his life, Sybil Carter. He was preceded in death by his wife Sybil; his parents; five brothers Rector, Sybert, Niles, A.J. and Warren, four sisters Rosalind, Mabel, Ruth and Virginia. One grandson Lonnie James and one granddaughter Tammy Duff Kurtz.

He is survived by one son Lonnie Duff and wife Elaine of Doniphan, MO.; two granddaughters, Cheryl and husband Gordon Heldt of Conway, MO., Julie and husband Beau Smith of Lebanon, MO.: four great-grandchildren Nathan Hill, Ryan Hill and wife Kayla, Christopher Kurtz and wife Lauren, Amanda and husband Jacob Kennedy; eight great-great-grandchildren Allison, Landon and Raelyn Hill, Sammy, Teagan, and Ezra Kurtz, Joshua and Emma Kennedy; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Jake as many knew him by was a Veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army.

Jake worked at Sun Strands in Rockford, III. Jake and Sybil later moved to Corning, AR. where they made their home for many years. Jake loved working with his horses and his dogs. Jake was a loving father, grandfather, great-great grandfather and uncle. He loved his family dearly and his friends. He will be missed by many.

Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Richard Robinson officiating. Burial will follow the service in Corning Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 20, 2018 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.

Pallbearers will be Gordon Heldt, Beau Smith, Nathan Hill, Ryan Hill, Christopher Kurtz and Danny Duff.
