Born on August 19, 1949, in Boydsville, Arkansas. Pistol dedicated many years of his life to serving the Corning area as a telephone repair agent until his retirement. He was a devoted family man whose greatest joy came from the time spent with his loved ones, especially his cherished grandchildren. Garry found peace in nature, enjoying fishing with his wife and pursuing his passion for hunting, particularly duck hunting, each season. He held strong to his Baptist faith throughout his life.
On July 27, 1968, Garry married Sandy Brooks, the love of his life. They shared 56 wonderful years of marriage until her passing on June 13, 2025.
Garry is survived by his children, Gayla (David) Secrest of Reyno, Arkansas and Bentley Hovis of Little Rock, Arkansas; his siblings, Larry Conyers of Rector, Arkansas, Donna Hollowell of Corning, Arkansas, Terry Conyers of Corning, Arkansas Darla (Dale) McClung of Pocahontas, Arkansas, Billy Conyers of Boydsville, Arkansas and Rita (Ron) Phelps of Oak Grove, Arkansas; and his beloved grandchildren, Chandler Conyers and Avery Glasgow. He is also remembered by many other relatives and friends who will hold his memory dear.
In addition to his beloved wife, Garry was preceded in death by his son, Heath Conyers; his parents, Carl David and Mary Earlene (Neeley) Conyers; and his sister, Linda Sanders.
Visitation will be held at Ermert Funeral Home on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Bro. Herbert Ellis will officiate the service, honoring Garry’s life and legacy.
