Gene Phelan

Gene Phelan, 92, of Corning, passed away Friday, December 22, 2023 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, MO. Mr. Phelan born on January 17, 1931 in Corning, AR. He was a retired assembly worker. He had proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army.

On May 16, 1953 he married the love of his life Shirley Jean Roberts. They enjoyed 67 years of marriage prior to her passing on November 15, 2020.

He is survived by his children Wesley Phelan of Bull Shoals, AR., Dr. David Phelan of Rogers, AR.; brother Gary Phelan of Long Beach, CA.; sister Rebecca Talkington of Auburn, AL.; eight grandchildren and seven grandchildren.

In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his parents John Lewis and Dola Valerie (Owens) Phelan; daughter Elizabeth Lucy; brothers and sisters John Lewis Phelan, II, Sarah Watson, Jimmy Phelan, William Owen Phelan, Betty Bracken, Jessie Melton Phelan, Thomas Phelan and Mary Lee Watson; and grandson Derek Lucy.

Family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
