George "G.T." Baxley

George “G.T.” Baxley, 89, of Corning, AR., passed away Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould, AR. George was born in Trumann, AR., on August 2, 1935. He had been a store owner, contractor and a farmer. He proudly served his country as a member of the National Guard. He was past member of the Free and Accepted Masons, Boydsville Lodge No. 75. He enjoyed working with wood and attended Calvary Baptist Church in Corning, AR.

On June 10, 1956 he married Mary Smith, they enjoyed 59 years of marriage prior to her passing on August 18, 2015.

He is survived by his children Thomas (Connie) Baxley of Corning, AR., and Belinda (Rudy) Dillard of Paragould, AR.; brother Robert Baxley of Texarkana, TX.; grandchildren Amy (Bobby) Anderson, Brent (Stephanie) Baxley and Matthew (Kala) Dillard; great-grandchildren Garrett, Gavin and Grant Anderson, Rylee Dillard and Sloan Baxley; several other relatives and friends.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents Andrew Clay and Alma Athiline (Watts) Baxley and a brother Wayne Baxley.

In lieu of flower memorials may be made to Corning Cemetery Trust Fund, P.O. Box 65, Corning, AR 72422.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 23, 2024 at 1:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with Reverends Kevin Simmons and Lavern Reed officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Corning Cemetery.
