George Elvin Hawkins

Mr. George Elvin Hawkins, 77, of Piedmont, MO., passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, MO. Mr. Hawkins was born in Current View, MO., on May 22, 1934. He was a retired final process inspector for General Motors. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, he was a member of the Church of Christ.
He married his wife Doris Evelyn (Sisco) Hawkins on December 26, 1980. She survives. Other survivors include two sons Wildon Hawkins and wife Diana of Hot Springs, AR., James Coleman and wife Sharon of Cedar Hill, MO.; three daughters Janice and husband John Halbert of Steelville, MO., Shirley and husband Randy Hays of St. Louis, MO., Lisa and husband Mark Fowler of Paragould, AR.; two sisters Muriel Griggs of Gatewood, MO., Glenna Hawkins of New Bern, NC.; seven grandchildren Tera Eaker, Amber Hays, Randy Hays, Steffany Halbert, Alicia Coleman, Austin Halbert, and Kody Whitney.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elvin and Faye (Baughn) Hawkins; two brothers Philip and David Hawkins.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 1, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Junior Williams officiating. Burial will follow the services in Hitt Cemetery in Success, AR. Public visitation will be held Thursday, June 30, 2011 from 6:00 until 9:00 PM.
