George Mayo, aged 70, of Midway, Arkansas, peacefully passed away at his home on Thursday, May 14, 2026.
Born on September 11, 1955, in Corsicana, Texas, George was the beloved son of William and Marianne (Gerdau) Mayo, who preceded him in death. Throughout his life, he worked many years as a roughneck in the Texas oil fields before later serving as a dedicated groundskeeper for a golf course in Florida.
George found great joy in yard work, fishing, and most importantly, spending cherished time with his family. A man of strong Christian faith, he was deeply loved and respected by all who knew him.
On February 17, 2023, George married Charlotte Chidester, and the couple shared 19 wonderful years together.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Charlotte Chidester; his children, Cody (Keri) Mayo, Brandi Mayo, and Melissa (Miguel) Rodrigues Vargas; stepchildren, Brian Yeary and Crystal Nisbet; his brother, Robin Mayo; his sister, Sherry Mayo; as well as 10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and many other cherished relatives and friends.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Richwoods Cemetery in Corning. Brian Yeary will officiate the service.
George’s life and legacy will be fondly remembered by all who were fortunate to know him.
