Glen Cate

Mr. Glen Junior Cate, 83, of Corning, AR., passed away Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott, AR. Mr. Cate was born in Hickoria, AR., on February 24, 1930. He was retired from Corning Public School District. He enjoyed painting pictures, singing, fishing, building things, and gardening. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army National Guard. He was a member of Hickoria Baptist Church, serving faithfully as a church deacon.

He married his wife of 62 years Virginia Marie (Bearden) Cate on December 28, 1951. She survives. Other survivors include three children Ronald Cate and wife Kathy of Conway, AR., Michael Cate and wife Amanda of Corning, AR., Teresa and husband Ronnie Shourd of Corning, AR.; eight grandchildren Rhonda, Scott, Heather, Todd, Robin, Emily, Dylan, Rachel; eleven great-grandchildren Cody, Haley, Catelynn, Alex, Regan, Caleb, Titan, Adia, Salem, Drue, and Blakeley.

He was preceded in death by his parents Van Travel and Eathel Maudeen (Galyean) Cate.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverends Mike Chadwick and George Bearden officiating. Burial will follow the services at New Hope Cemetery in Pollard, AR. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 6, 2014 from 12:00 PM until the time of services.
