H.A. "Red" Smith

August 25, 1920 — November 15, 2012

Mr. H.A. “Red” Smith, 92, of Corning, AR., passed away Thursday, November 15, 2012 at his home. Mr. Smith was born in Success, AR., on August 25, 1920. He was a retired farmer, tractor company owner, house mover, and trucker. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, 300th Engineer Combat Battalion during World War II. He had a big garden each year and enjoyed joking around with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Success.

He married his wife Rosemary (Johnston) Smith on March 31, 1951. She preceded him in death on April 28, 2012.

He is survived by two daughters Sheila and husband Stan Wooldridge of Jonesboro, AR., Debbie Rose and husband Bud Hill of Linn Creek, MO.; four grandchildren Chris Wooldridge and wife Amy of Newalla, OK., Nichole and husband Heath Rogers of Lake Placid, FL., Karie and husband Scott Gibson of Jonesboro, AR., Elizabeth “Bucky” Hays of Corning, AR.; eight great-grandchildren Katie Wooldridge, Henry Wooldridge, Madison Gibson, Emily Gibson, Rachel Gibson, Isaac Hays, Lizzie Rogers and Landen Rogers (due January 21, 2013).

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents Tezzie and Dorcas (Douglas) Smith; son Roger Mock Smith; brother Tezzie Douglas Smith; two sisters Virginia Calloway and Gussie Dee Barton.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted Sunday, November 18, 2012 at 3:00 PM in the Corning Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday November 18, 2012 from 1:00 PM until time of service in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel.
