Mr. Harold Lee Smith, 65, of Knobel, AR., passed away Saturday, January 19, 2013 at home. Mr. Smith was born in Peach Orchard, AR., on January 14, 1948 to parents Edith (Smith) and the late Joseph Oran Smith. He lived most of his life in the Knobel-Peach Orchard area where he was a farmer. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army for three years in the late 1960’s, one of which was in Korea. He was a Free Will Baptist.
He married his wife of twenty-nine years Carol (May) Smith on March 26, 1983, she survives. Other survivors include two children Sara Smith of Jefferson City, MO., Rachel and husband Josh Bang of Auxvasse, MO.; his mother Edith Smith of Peach Orchard, AR.; one brother Richard Smith and wife Judy of Peach Orchard, AR.; one sister Barbara and husband Eldon Schmidt of O’Fallon, IL.; two grandchildren Kayla and Lori Bang; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father and one infant grandson Nathan Samuel Bang.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at 10:00 AM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Heath Vines officiating. Burial will follow the service with Military Honors in Pirtle Cemetery in Peach Orchard.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 21, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
