Helen Mcgrew

Helen McGrew, 93, of Success, AR., passed away Sunday, February 9, 2024 at Corning Therapy and Living Center surrounded by her family. Mrs. McGrew was born June 25, 1931 in Reyno, AR. She was a homemaker who had retired from Brown Shoe Factory and Basler Electric. Helen loved spending time with her friends and family. She enjoyed cooking, planting flowers, watching hummingbirds, painting, texting, word searches and watching Fox News. She was a member of Success Church of Christ.

On September 8, 1947, she married James McGrew in Corning. They were married 47 years prior to his death on July 12, 1995.

Survivors include her children Mary Helen (Jim) Mullinnax of Mt. Carmel, IL., and Jim (Angie) McGrew of Corning, AR.; daughter-in-law Brenda (Jason) Guthrie of Corning, AR.; grandchildren Jennifer and Jason Harvester, Cody (Magen), Nick (Brooklyn), Drake and Jaxon McGrew; great grandchildren Cali and John Luke McGrew, Jordan Veal; and many other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her son Bruce McGrew; parents Neely and Ada Mae (King) Blackburn; brother Wilburn Blackburn; and great grandchildren Paislee, Penelope and Liam McGrew.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Children’s Homes, Inc., 5515 Old Walcott Rd., Paragould, AR 72450.

Visitation will be held Monday, February 17, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM with Jason Guthrie officiating. Burial will follow the services at Hitt Cemetery in Success, AR.
