Helen Holland Passmore, age 95, of Osceola, Arkansas, formerly of Corning, Arkansas, went to her eternal home on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Flo & Phil Hospice House in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Born on December 19, 1930, in Thornburg, Arkansas, Helen was the daughter of Harrison and Gladys (Willard) Holland. She was united in marriage to J. D. Passmore on April 8, 1950, sharing almost 61 cherished years together until his passing in 2011. Helen graduated from Arkansas State Teachers College, now known as the University of Central Arkansas. Together with her husband, they taught in Arkansas and Washington state.
Helen’s passion was caring for family as a devoted mother and working in the church along her husband. She was a state-approved preschool teacher with the Arkansas Baptist State Convention, and found joy in cooking, gardening, reading, and sewing. A long-time member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Corning, Arkansas, she taught both adults and preschoolers. At the time of her passing, she was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lepanto, Arkansas, teaching the Ladies Adult Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her husband J. D. Passmore; her parents; three brothers; a sister; her son Jay Dee Passmore; her daughter Paula and husband Rick Rush; and son-in-law Steve Bailey.
Helen is lovingly remembered by her daughter Margaret Bailey of Osceola, Arkansas; her son Tim Passmore and his wife Becky of Crossroads, Texas; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and nephews and nieces.
A visitation to honor Helen’s life will take place on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 11:30 AM at Ermert Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM with Reverend Don Settles officiating. Interment will be at Corning Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Helen kindly requested donations be made to the City of Corning Cemetery Fund, 308 SW 2nd St., Corning, AR 72422, or to the Calvary Baptist Church Mission Offerings, 12411 State Hwy 140, Lepanto, AR 72354.
