Mrs. Ida Mae (Carmickle) Hill, 84, of Cherry Valley, IL., passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017 at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, IL. Mae was born in Pitman, AR., on August 15, 1933 to Edward and Nellie May (Ivey) Carmickle. Mae was a homemaker, she lived most of her life in Supply, AR., but moved to Cherry Valley, IL., in 2010 to be closer to her four children. One of the favorite things in her life was the many years spent breeding and raising Yorkshire Terrier puppies. She was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Pitman.
Mae married her husband of 46 years Mr. Paul Hill on April 28, 1952 in Freeport, IL., he preceded her in death on November 14, 1998.
She is survived by two sons Paul Dean Hill and wife Sandy of Rockford, IL., Gary Lyn Hill and wife Kristi of Machesney Park, IL.; two daughters Peggy Ann Kilmer of Cherry Valley, IL., Lesa Lynn Thurlby of Cherry Valley, IL.; three grandchildren Ryan James and wife Lindsey, Heather Lyn, Jake Kristopher; two great-grandchildren, Ethan James, Stella Mae; two brothers Eddie Carmickle and wife Linda, Graylen Carmickle and wife Susan; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Larry Ray Hill; three sisters Wanda Lee, Viva Nadine Horn, Emilie; two brothers James William, Carry Gean; son-in-law Rod Thurlby and her beloved dog Princess.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 1:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Charles Carrens officiating. Burial will follow the services in Pope Chapel Cemetery, near Current View, MO. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 9, 2017 from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
