Irene Highfill, 90, of Corning passed away January 24, 2021 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.
Mrs. Highfill was born August 16, 1930 in Thorn Grove, AR. She was retired from Basler Electric. She enjoyed flower gardening, playing piano and spending time with her friends and family. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Corning.
On January 14, 1950, she married John Thomas “Johnnie” Highfill in Pocahontas. They were married 43 years prior to his death on March 9, 1994.
Survivors include her daughter Gail (Terry) Conyers of Corning; brothers Buddy (Arlene) Montgomery of Knob and Kyle (Mary) Montgomery of Missouri; sisters Wiley (Kenneth) Nixon of McDougal and Joetta Evers of Rector; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and friend and neighbor Ruth Nesbit.
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her son Garry Highfill; infant daughter Pauletta; parents Johnce and Carrie (Gatlin) Montgomery; brothers Harvey and Tom Montgomery; sisters Christine Clarkson, Frances Vallen, Regina Fitzgerald, Lucille, Deletta and Jenette Montgomery; great grandson Henry “Hank” Rogers; and half-siblings Irma Pierce, Amy and Herman Montgomery.
Visitation will be Saturday January 30, 2021 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning. Funeral service will be Sunday January 31, 2021 at the funeral home beginning at 2 P.M. with Rev. Jeff Miles officiating. Burial will follow at Corning Cemetery.
