James “Lil’ Jim” Cox, 67, of Lufkin, TX., passed away Monday, November 7, 2022 at Michael E. Debakey VA Medical Center in Houston, TX. Mr. Cox was born March 1, 1955 in Fort Wayne, IN. He proudly served in the United States Army as a sergeant. He was a former Corning police officer, car salesman and truck driver. He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved to fish. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his children Lisa Hubbard and Maria Cox of WA and Jared Cox of Germany; brother Guy Cox of Crawfordsville, IN; sisters Rita Bothum and Berneta Dunton, both of Lufkin, TX, Anita Murray of ID and Maria Cox of Corning, AR.; special aunt Vivian Owen of Poplar Bluff, MO.; several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents James L. and Celia J. (Terril) Cox and sister Cheryl Paight.

Visitation will be in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel Friday, November 11, 2022 at 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 10:00 AM with Earl Ladyman officiating. Burial will follow the Corning Cemetery.
