James “Jim” Mason, 82, of Corning, AR., passed away Sunday, September 15, 2024 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould, AR. Jim was born in Corning, AR., on April 14, 1942. He was a retired mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, watching the Cardinals, Razorbacks, and old westerns on TV, working puzzle books, and playing Solitaire. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign War, Vietnam Veterans of America, Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Success, AR., where he served as a deacon for many years.
He married the love of his life Janet Sanders on December 19, 1970, she survives. Other survivors include his children Shannon (Eric) Powers of Corning, AR., Jamie (Maranda) Mason of Oak Grove, AR.; brother Johnny Mason; grandchildren Hannah (Jacob) Pipkin, Hattie (Cody) Collins, Makenzie Phillips, Eli, Emma, Lily and Lacey Mason; great-grandchildren Keelin, Rylenn and Maisie Jo Collins, Harvey Pipkin, Mercy and Gwen Causey.
He was preceded in death by his parents Earl Edward and Beatrice (Blue) Mason; and sister Betty Sinka.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted in the chapel on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at 10:00 AM with Reverend Carmon McMasters officiating. Burial will follow the service at Hitt Cemetery in Success, AR., with Military Honors.
