James Mcnabb

James Gardner McNabb, 96, of Brookings passed away Saturday, May 18, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones at home. He was born January 7, 1928, in Brookings to the late Mamie Fern Holder McNabb and Robert Lester McNabb. As a young man he hauled gravel and did odd jobs. In the late 1940’s, he began farming, working alongside his family, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He married the love of his life Emma Catherine Palmer McNabb in 1954. After retiring from the farm, he worked at Farm Service in Knobel as a truck driver.

He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years Emma Catherine McNabb; his daughter Teresa (Gary) French; a loving brother Sonny Pratt; grandsons Christopher (Jessica) McNabb of Brookings and Tommy (Bree) French of Pocahontas; great grandchildren Asa McNabb, Emma McNabb, Lexi Bell, August French, Stetson French, and Coralie French, as well as many friends.

A memorial to celebrate James’s life will be held for the immediate family at a later date. Those who would like to memorialize James are asked by the family to make donations to the Brownie-Pirtle Cemetary Association that can be mailed to Brownie-Pirtle Cemetary Association, C/O Judy Schimming, P.O. Box 40, Peach Orchard, AR 72453.
