Janice Elders

Janice Elders, 82, of Corning, AR., passed away Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Corning Therapy and Living Center. Mrs. Elders was born August 30, 1940 in Neelyville, MO. She was retired from Corning School District where she wore many hats. She helped shape and influence many students over her career and truly enjoyed her work. Janice loved her family and spending time with her great grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, softball, watching television and visiting with friends. She was of the Methodist faith.

On July 13, 1957, she married Jake Elders. They were married 51 years prior to his death on November 29, 2008.

Survivors include her sons David (Terri) Elders of DeSoto, MO., and Danny (Pam) Elders of Corning, AR.; brother Leroy Walters of Neelyville, MO.; grandchildren Danielle (Jason) Robertson of Rogers, AR., Megan (Benny) Owens of Corning, AR., Jason (Lindsey) Elders of St. Genevieve, MO., Bradley (Lindsey) Elders of High Ridge, MO., and Laura (Chris) Yokley of St. Louis, MO.; five great grandchildren with one on the way; and many other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents Joy and Helen (Thompson) Walters and brother Ronald Walters.

Visitation will be held Sunday, August 20, 2023 at 1:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM Burial will follow the services at Williams Cemetery, near Corning.
